Black Mountains Cycleworks
Abergavenny's convenient, quick and transparent workshop service.
With over 30 years of professional cycling industry experience, BMC is a small 1-person hobby business based in Abergavenny.
I'm not a bike shop, so ask for prior appointment to drop your bike off for servicing. I also offer a FREE pickup/return service within Abergavenny (see details at the bottom of this page).
Who's This?
This is me. I'm Thomas, a product of almost 30 years in the bike business. I first started working on bikes in the late 90's in bike shops on the South coast of England and on the West Coast of Southern California.
After a while, I worked for some well known bike companies in marketing and have recently returned to the full-time marketing world, working on bikes in my spare time...for fun.
Questions?
What does BMC offer?
I maintain and repair bikes of all sorts from road bikes, to mountain bikes and anything in between.
I perform anything from a simple puncture repair to suspension servicing and full pivot bearing replacements and hub rebuilds.
And yes, I do work on ebikes. BUT I do not offer diagnostics support or electronic faults.
What Service Options do I offer?
I offer basic servicing or advance servicing. My Silver service is by far my most popular with Gold coming in at a close second.

How It Works...
First of all, it's important you know that this is a hobby business. I only accept 2-4 services per week..but this makes me competitively competitively priced...I do it for fun.
1. Drop me a message via WhatsApp (there's a link on this web page) or Facebook Messenger with your request.
2. I'll respond within 24 hours and ascertain whether you'd like a collection/return service (free within some areas but charged in others. See bottom of this page for details).
3. I'll collect the bike and verbally deliver an approximate quote on the spot. Or, save £10 and drop it off with me when you spend £70 on labour.
4. Once in the workshop, I'll run through the bike in a little more detail and confirm with you the total cost of service + parts prior to commencing. Nobody likes surprises.
5. I'll now order any required parts from my suppliers which typically arrive with me in 24-48 hours.
6. I'll conduct the work and return the bike. Turn-around is typically 2-5 days.
How Long Does Servicing Take?
My usual practice is to collect on Monday or Tuesday evening and return on Friday. I do my best to ensure you're not without your bike for the weekend.
If I'm busy, i'll book you in and collect accordingly...I prefer not to take bikes in if I can't return them swiftly.
What if I'm not happy with the result?
Tell me! I take pride in my work and will rectify any issues following on from servicing. Like any business, mistakes can happen, albeit on a rare occasion. It's how I resolve it that matters.
